Tower of Presents

This is one of the most interesting and creative displays of Christmas presents I’ve ever seen. Dubbed Tower of Presents we see them stacked with silver tubes of some sort. This was from Christmas of 1970.

The miniatures we saw yesterday are part of this display too.

Did your parents stack Christmas presents up in interesting ways? Ours were just casually tossed under the tree. Behind the couch. And frequently half way up the tree. Sometimes within the branches of the trees.

Christmas Miniatures – 1970

When younger, I was always somewhat fascinated by the dioramas of Christmas Miniatures. Actually, miniatures of any type which led to a quite a few hobby/obsessions over the years.

I don’t know if they exist anymore, but I dimly remember there being a large line of ceramic or plastic miniatures to make elaborate Christmas themed dioramas. This must be the forerunner of those dioramas. It looks like they’re actually HO scale miniatures from train sets though. This specific set is from Christmas 1970 and is part of a larger setup that involved the presents stacked into an impressive tower.

Does anyone remember having dioramas like this at Christmas? What was the purpose of having these setup?
